I received an update email a short while back from my contact on the Parish Council in the village of Garveston, England. The Garveston Twelve Memorial Project and accompanying dedication ceremony are taking shape and on schedule for June 6, 2012.
If you remember, the Garveston Twelve Memorial will honor the ten members of the B-24 bomber crew and two firemen that lost their lives when the Liberator crashed into the village on June 4, 1944. Garveston has never forgotten the sacrifice of these brave Americans.
Many surviving family members of those lost in the crash will be in attendance, making the ceremony just that much more special–one to truly never be forgotten. So Americans and Europeans alike, set your calendars! Find your way to Garveston, England on June 6, 2012!
