Over the last week, we have brought you Part 1 and Part 2 of a wonderful World War II newspaper period piece titled, “U.S. 90th Plays Historic Role: Army Identifies Unit That Did Some of the Heaviest Fighting in Normandy Battles.” It was dated July 19, 1944, and written by Gene Currivan, with the New [...]

Wednesday already? Yep, and time for Letters From War Wednesday. Today we feature a short note from Sgt. Cliff Snyder to his mother. Snyder served with the 152nd Infantry, 38th Infantry Division. Good Monday morning to all.  Time for the 90th Infantry Division Pic of the Week. Being a machinist myself, this photo hits close to home. Pictured is a fully operational underground Nazi factory discovered near Thionville, France.  The machinery pictured was used to bore 88mm gun barrels.  I imagine that it was kept pretty busy.

With a heavy heart, I must report that another good one is gone.  Robert Spangler, with family by his side, passed away in Hawaii at the age of 91 years. While working on EVERYTOWN, USA, I spoke with Robert several times over the years.  I first made contact while he still lived in Baltimore, then [...]

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Time for the 90th Infantry Division Pic of the Week. Today we feature a shot of Supreme Allied Commander, Dwight D. Eisenhower, surveying the carnage at Chambois, France, where combined Allied forces trapped, then destroyed the German 7th Army. I’ve seen the photograph several times over the years, and [...]

A new book, Every Thought of You, recounts a love story through letters from war. The remains of the Vietnam War pilot, Major Thomas Clark, have been returned to [...]
