Weekly History Wrap-Up: 04/08/11.

Man, this week has seemed to just drag along.  Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation.  But finally, Friday’s here, and time for the History Junkie’s Weekly History Wrap-Up.

Let’s get things started with World War II and Operation Pastorius, the failed Nazi submarine mission to the States in June 1942.

There’s a new book on the market gaining a lot of press coverage.  The Man Who Broke Into Auschwitz tells the story of British POW, Denis Avery and how he actually broke into the most infamous of Nazi concentration camps.

The Rubin Report takes a look at why “THEY” hate America.

One thing that’s been missing from a lot of the Libya coverage, no doubt purposefully, is who’s leading these rebels.  Ever heard of Khalifa Haftar?  You have now.

The 1911 Census for Scotland is going online.  Have to check out me ole ancestors in Clan MacKay.

The General George Patton Museum has reopened at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

And lastly, Dr. Beachcombing lights up the week with Barbecuing Friars in Medieval Florence.

Til Monday, have a historical weekend.
