Weekly History Wrap Up: 12/09/11.

Good Friday morning to all! Time for the Weekly History Wrap Up.

Of course, this week marked the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. I guess the ceremony included a hiccup.

Money’s tight, even for great projects like the planned World War II Memorial in Pittsburgh.

Perhaps just a little overdue, the Japanese government recently apologized to Canada for its mistreatment of Canadian POWs during World War II.

Wow! Roger Damon, Jr. recently received a wonderful surprise–his father’s World War II helmet, originally lost on Normandy’s Utah Beach.

Former Senator Chuck Hagel, and his brother, Tom, helped the Veterans History Project kick off their new campaign into stories from the Vietnam War.

And lastly, estimates predict that the costs of caring for our recently wounded will rival those from the Vietnam War. But there should be no question that it has to be done.

Til Monday, have a historical weekend.
