Weekly History Wrap-Up: 02/18/11.

For the first Friday in a long time, the History Junkie can see grass, albeit brown and muddy.  But still, GRASS!  The snow is melting fast, surely in preparation for the next big storm.

Forget about the weather.  Let’s talk history.

Mark Caprio has written a very interesting piece on the Neglected Questions of the Forgotten War.

With the recent attack on CBS journalist Lara Logan, questions mount regarding the future for women in Egypt.

Over the years, I’ve talked to many a World War II vet that spent time aboard the Navy’s workhorse–Landing Ship Tanks, better known as LSTs.  The Dravo Corporation Shipyard at Neville Island, Pennsylvania pushed them out by the dozens.

I’ve been through Grand Rapids, Michigan more times than I can count.  But I’ve never stopped at Alexander’s Militaria.  With the melting snow, maybe I should be on my way.

How about a blast from the past–an interesting anti-Nixon, anti-war piece from 1972.

And lastly, let’s end with a great bit on Gurkha warriors.

Until we meet again.  Have a historical weekend.
