Weekly History Wrap Up: 04/01/11.

On my way to the Final Four in Houston.  No time for the Weekly History Wrap-Up this Friday.

Hah!  Got you!  April Fools!

Yes, it will be my pleasure to watch Butler University win it all from the comfort of my own living room … and to do the Weekly History Wrap-Up.

First off, the History Junkie must confess that he’s on “Libya Overload.”  Accordingly, this post will feature no update regarding the aforementioned North African country.  Whew.  Now on with it.

The 26th Amendment gave 18-year-olds the right to vote.  Amen.  Carl Cannon takes a look at the 26th’s effect on politics.

I’ve always been interested in stories of the Buffalo Soldiers.  Sadly, this marker and its location seem less than a fitting tribute.

Georgina Miranda, founder of Climb Take Action, is hitting Mt. Everest for the women of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the worthiest of causes.  God speed.

Veterans Today takes a look at World War III … ongoing.

As you all know, the History Junkie loves a good soldier’s story.  Hospital Corpsman, Francis Hammond, gave all for his country and comrades.

Historynet brings us the story of Mikhail Tukhachevsky, a tank commander ahead of his time … and country.

Who doesn’t love a good shipwreck story?  And when it involves Lake Michigan, I’m there.

Til Monday.  Have a historical weekend.
