Weekly History Wrap Up: 08/12/11.

Good Friday morning to all.  Time for the Weekly History Wrap Up.

Sad news this week in World War II history as famed female British agent, Nancy Wake, died in London and Navajo code talker, Joe Morris, passed away in Loma Linda, CA.  Two great ones, and more firsthand history, gone forever.

Germany and Montenegro have agreed upon the specifics regarding the remains of some 2,000 German WW II soldiers recently unearthed while digging on a construction project.  A German cemetery will be constructed in Montenegro.

A young confederate soldier’s diary will be housed at Washington and Lee University.

Maryland is finding out that Civil War Tourism is good business, especially in a down economy.

In Minnesota, military veterans have restored a Vietnam War-era Huey helicopter.

And ending on a good note, Korean War veteran, Gene Stottele, received his high school diploma this week in Kenmore, New York.
