90th Infantry Division Pic of the Week: Sees, France.

I trust everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Monday morning means time for the 90th Infantry Division Pic of the Week.  In late August into early September, the 90th Infantry Division pushed east across France from the Falaise Pocket.

A tank sets in the forefront, flanked by wrecked German vehicles, five miles west of Sees, France - September 1944. (U.S. Army Signal Corps Photo, Courtesy National Archives)

    Hi Mike,
hope you’re doing well. This picture is really famous but the locations remains unknown after 67 years. “Sees” is really vagueness, hard to say where it was taken. Not “in” the Gap, but shortly before the “real” battle took place. ;)
    Best, Tristan

    Tristan,

Thanks for the additional info. Do you know what type of tank that is in the forefront?

  3. Tristan says:

    Mike,
it is a Panzer IV (also known as Mark IV). Behind there is a Flak 88.
On the left there are a Horch, a German ambulance and a sdkfz kettenkrad ;)
