New 90th Division Webmaster.

Wow, what a weekend!  Basketball, basketball and more basketball!  The little junkies keep HJ busy.

TO - 90th ID Patch

There will always be a soft place in the History Junkie’s heart for the 90th Infantry Division–the Tough ‘Ombres.  Over the years, I have met so many wonderful people associated with the group, from front line soldiers, to grieving widows to boisterous grandchildren.

This week, I received word that Dennis Foye, the Division’s website guru, had turned the reins over to Chris Guska.  I spoke with Dennis via email on several occasions and greatly enjoyed his work.

HJ has perused many a division website through the years.  And for my money, the 90th Division’s is one of the best.  It just has SO MUCH information.  They’ve been working on what they call their, “World War II Report Project” in which they are making available online hundreds, if not thousands, of documents from WW II, including After Action Reports and Daily Morning Reports.  This is truly great stuff!

Chris brings to the table a wealth of enthusiasm, a background in IT and web management and a love for the 90th Division.  His grandfather, Joseph Moniak, served with Hobert Winebrenner in Company M of the 358th Infantry.  Beyond the website, Chris spreads the word of the Tough ‘Ombres through “living history” events, museum displays and also takes part in WWII reenactments with the 90th Infantry Division Preservation Group.

Good Luck Chris!

Wonderful reading. I have read parts of Bootprints – my grandfather’s copy. He was a member of the 90th Division, 358th Infantry – Richard “Doc” Bulger. I have for some time wanted to research the 358th movement across Europe, specifically his aid stations and work. He died this past last Winter, but is always close to our thoughts.

    Keep up the good work!!

    John,

Great to hear from you. Thanks for reading. Although I never met your grandfather in person, I did talk with him several times on the phone, and enjoyed every minute of it. He was a fascinating guy, and a true hero.

Hobert Winebrenner (BOOTPRINTS) had so many great stories about your grandfather. He thought the world of him. He said they always used to pull out the maps at every 90th Division Reunion and argue over battle sites and routes taken. He said your grandfather could point out the location of every aid station he served at across Europe.

I’m sorry for your loss. From everything I’ve heard, Doc Bulger was one of a kind.

    Good luck in your research!
