Continuing with our “Airing of Grievances” from the Citation, 3rd Battalion, 358th Infantry, 90th Infantry Division, newspaper from World War II, take a gander at this timely request. “WHAT TIME YA GOT? – …Most of us have wrist watches and pocket watches which we have carried through many months of combat, so that by now [...]

In this Letters From War Wednesday, dated May 1942, we feature a short note home from Private William Huff, training at Class 12, Aviation School of Technology, Long Island City, New York. “Having a few minutes to spare, I will write you the letter you deserve and which I should have written sooner. “…I am [...]

Back during World War II, the 3rd Battalion, 358th Infantry, 90th Infantry Division produced a unit newspaper dubbed, Citation. In a section called, Citation Letter Box, the newspaper printed short notes from GIs. The June 9, 1945 edition was printed at Waldmunchen, Germany, while the group occupied the city at war’s end. In going through a stack of interesting items my old pal, Hobert Winebrenner, passed along to me, I came across another item from the 90th Infantry Division’s return to Normandy, for the 35th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. Please enjoy a reunion ceremony program from the Periers Parish Church.

BOOTPRINTS author, Hobert Winebrenner, had an incredible sense of humor. I recently came across another World War II comic that HW passed along to me years ago. Cause for another edition of Uncommonly Hobert.
